"Photos in artist book"

These are some of the self images used in my book, they are the ones concentrating on the use of light with shadowed tone on one side of the face. The dark versus light areas help to portray the mixed emotion of a two faced personality. For all the images the emotion is chosen from the viewer.

"Artist' Book"

In mac lab our project is to design and create an artist book using images that interest us. It is free choice of how we present it and how we construct a book. We had a workshop class to make a simple book out of two sheets of cardboard and a laminate contact joining them together as the cover. The book is black with 12cm x 16cm in dimension.

I have decided to do "Self Image" as my topic for my book, I have taken photos of my self from different angles with different tones and light. I want to show how you can see different angles of my personality using photography. The photos are meant to show emotion and are photos that I have edited to look more dramatic. I chose these photos as i think each one has a strange but different look to them. I took most of the photos based on a water theme as I thought it was interesting seeing water captured in movement.

"Botanical Gardens"

During my time I went to the botanical gardens during autumn to get inspiration to create art pieces. On the sunny day i walked around the gardens and through the rainforest capturing photos of different trees, plants and things i saw that would be an interesting subject matter.

From the photos i produced artwork using different media such as drawings, paintings and collages.
As a project we were to create an image to fit in a cd case that we would create using photoshop and print out onto paper. The images could be any type of medium. I used my photos that i took of the swans swimming in the lake and made it black and white with a tinge of colour on the swan's beak. I cropped the image to focus on the swans, changed the levels and used a water colour filter.

Out of the corner of my eye captured by the sun reflection i saw a spider between two trees. I saw a bee just get caught into the middle of the web but no spider. The web was huge and even though i have a fear of spiders i wanted to see what type it was so i tapped on the web. When the spider felt the movement it raced down the web to see the bee caught. As i watched the spider tangle up the bee I took photos in amazement to how quickly it was done.

"Nude"

As we began our life drawing classes i decided to do a smaller drawing that i spent more time on. I wanted to crop the image just showing the torso and the figure over seeing the face. I wanted to contrast the whole page leaving less white left and having strong shadowed areas.

My life drawing images from class and from previous work are are going to be used in my book I'm making in Mac Lab. Using both wet and dry media to display a different range of media and techniques in the book.

"Shadowed Girl"

"Clowns"

Clowns are meant to entertain and act as happy characters towards children, even though they appear to be happy the thought of the hidden character behind the mask of the face paint and costume is frightening.Clowns can be very intimidating to many people especially children and are often thought as evil from the act of a different personality.

"Wet Canvases"

My subject for photography in 2007 was water with the use of people. I decided to take 3 shots of head close ups of family members including my brother, my mum and myself as we have similar features. All the shots were taken just after showering so we all had dripping hair. I wanted a straight on, direct stare into the camera with the hair draped over the right side of our faces and all in black and white so it matched. Viewed closer you can see the drips coming off the hair stands. Each image was printed onto transfer paper then ironed onto calico fabric. I stretched the each photo fabric over a canvas to create "Wet Canvases."
